Cello-Metal Band
Apocalyptica is a metal band like no other. Their unique brand of music – that combines heavy metal with classical cello music – gave birth to a new genre, cello metal. With over 4 million albums sold worldwide, they are one of the most successful Finnish bands ever.
Apocalyptica consists of the three classically trained cellists Eicca Toppinen, Paavo Lötjönen and Perttu Kivilaakso, and drummer Mikko Sirén. Eicca and Paavo studied and consequently met each other at the prestigious Sibelius Academy in Helsinki, Finland. Perttu attended the Sibelius Academy as well, but he wasn’t part of Apocalyptica’s original line-up. The band has been around the block: Apocalyptica was formed in 1993 in Helsinki, Finland. Since then, this orchestral rock band has released six studio albums featuring numerous cello-based instrumentals along with some vocal-based songs. Whatever styles they’ve explored – from atmospheric interludes to fast, battering rhythms – their music has been gripping, dynamic and full of melody. But with their seventh album, 7th Symphony the band has composed an album that not just symphonic, it’s practically a symphony.
Battery Energy Drink is proud to be the official energy drink of Apocalyptica and to energize these ambassadors of contemporary Finnish metal on tour.
