The Finnish Supercross Championships start in Hyvinkää – Antti enters the race as the challengerPublished on 04.5.2011 15:41
In his comeback season, Antti Pyrhönen is starting the season in an unfamiliar position – as the challenger.
”Feels great to enter the domestic circuit again, since I didn’t race at all last season. I’m coming in to challenge the Finnish elite riders. Let’s see how it goes…” Antti laughs.
In 2009 Antti won the Finnish Supercross Championship with Harri Kullas in second place. Last season, in the absence of Antti, Harri celebrated his championship. These two guys are expected to battle it out for the championship again this year.
”Harri will be tough to beat this season. I’ve seen him ride this year while we were training at the same time in Belgium. He looks fast this year.” Antti explains.
There are also a lot of other young and hungry challengers among the 58 riders that have entered the supercross-class this season. 20 of the faster riders on the day will make it into the final. It is a great race for spectators with high speeds, short heats and no shortage of action. The weekend will see a grand total of over 300 riders in various classes; including fearless junior riders take to the course. It promises to be a great weekend for everyone.
