Finnish Supercross title for Antti PyrhönenPublished on 28.10.2011 13:32
To round up an already fantastic 2011 season Hyvinkää’s son Antti Pyrhönen secured the Finnish Supercross title this weekend at the Lahti indoor meeting held on Friday and Saturday night.
Antti won his series and semi-final on both days and led the final on the second day but had to settle for a third place on Friday and a fourth on Saturday. This was still enough to clinch the title by 27 points.
“I thank the 5000-strong crowd… They were amazing and they loved every minute of the two-day event. A year of hard work put me in a position to create some very strong performances in front of my home crowds. I was strong here in Lahti, I had a great Finnish MX3 appearance at Vantaa earlier this year, I scored 4 podiums in this year’s MX3 and not so long ago we won the Finnish team title with the boys from Hyvinkää.”
“I have put in an incredible amount of hard work into my career this year. And I’ve done it… I am again on top of my performance. I am very pleased with the season’s results and wanna thank everyone who has supported me this year and believed in me,” said the newly crowned champion.
