Antti Pyrhönen Column nr 5

Published on 22.12.2011 13:16

Dear friends,

This month has been filled with hectic days – while many of you may think that without a racing schedule my days are quiet with my feet up. But training on and off the bike never stops. A couple of weeks ago I was riding in Estonia. That was a new experience on an indoor motocross track in the middle of nowhere. A big hall, the size of two football fields. I was testing the new Honda model 2012 and it went pretty good but there is always work to do for me and my mechanic Jussi.

Last Saturday, I did another day of testing in a sandpit near Hyvinkää and it was cool. Winter is late this year but now we have a couple of centimeters of snow as people get ready for Christmas and New Year.

My father will celebrate his 60th birthday on January 6th and I had expected to join the party. However, it seems my trip to Chile in preparation for the MX3 season will begin on the 3rd of January, and that will be the start of my 4 week trip to South America. My friends over there have prepared a 5 day Antti Pyrhönen training camp that I will do from January 5th so all is looking promising. I will have a race on the weekend 26th-27th of January in Chile, maybe I’ll make the local newspapers again.

I will be flying back to Europe by early February, and back in Finland we will load up the van and travel to Belgium with the new bikes and parts to my base at the Dirkx Honda shop. Then it’s back on the bike almost every day to get in shape and find the race pace.

But let’s first enjoy the holidays. Me and my AP Racing crew wish my sponsors, fans,  friends and their families a merry Christmas and a beautiful New Year. We’ll meet at the races.

This was my last column of 2011, but count on me and my media team: we will be back soon with news from Chile and mailings concerning my 2012 MX3 season.

Happy Holidays!
